The ๐๐๐ซ๐ง๐๐ฎฬ๐๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ง ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ฃ๐๐๐ญ is an initiative by Brasil Ceras, developed by the Carnaรบba Sustainability Institute, with the purpose of valuing, empowering, and training women linked to the carnaรบba production chain โ including extractivists, producers, educators, artisans, wives, and daughters of workers โ turning them into multipliers of good practices and agents in mitigating the risks and challenges of this vital activity for the Brazilian Northeast region.
The initiative was born from the perception that the most solid and well-organized production arrangements in the carnaรบba chain had one thing in common: the active presence of women. They worked in the carnaubal, supporting their families in various extraction stages such as lastro and aparo, while also managing and caring for their homes. We observed how strong, fearless, and tireless they were โ and at the same time, how invisible they often remained within the chain.
From this realization, the project was structured with a focus on training and social leadership, addressing topics such as human rights, occupational health and safety, traceability, and first aid. It also promotes income generation through carnaรบba straw handicrafts, home gardens, cassava flour houses, and the use of cashew by-products, strengthening participantsโ financial autonomy and sense of belonging.
Since its creation, the project has impacted 574 women, who now stand out in their communities as leaders and promoters of good practices.
Aligned with SDG 5 (Gender Equality) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), the project is part of the Brasil Ceras ESG Plan and stands as a permanent initiative to strengthen social governance and female leadership within the carnaรบba value chain.
When we empower women, we strengthen the entire carnaรบba chain.
