📍 Campo Maior (PI), Brazil
We had the honor of hosting the 2025 edition of the “Women of Carnaúba” event, promoted by Brasil Ceras, bringing together 250 women who work directly or indirectly in the carnaúba supply chain — including extractivists, suppliers, straw artisans, company staff, and students from the Carnaúba Project for Education and Biodiversity, among others.
Our goal was clear: to recognize, train, and strengthen women’s leadership, while promoting decent working conditions, gender equity, and social sustainability.
Program Highlights:
- ✔ Partnership with UEBT – Union for Ethical BioTrade, offering training on Human Rights, Social Rights, and Labor Regulations;
- ✔ Strategic training through the “Women of Carnaúba – Transformative Agents” project;
- ✔ Workplace Health and Safety and First Aid training, with on-site blood pressure checks;
- ✔ Distribution of 250 first aid kits, themed shirts, good practices booklets, and the signing of a Commitment Agreement aligned with the Brasil Ceras Code of Conduct.
📢 We also reinforced communication channels for reporting, suggestions, and alignment with Brasil Ceras’ ethical principles and its Supplier Code of Conduct.
Expected Impact:
Strengthening the role of women at the base of the supply chain and promoting fairer, more collaborative, and safer working environments — in full alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 5 and 8).
Since 2024, the project has generated real improvements in accommodation, food, and transportation conditions for carnaúba workers, thanks to the engagement of women and ongoing dialogue with the production base.
💚 We move forward together for an increasingly ethical, inclusive, and sustainable carnaúba supply chain.
