The year 2024 marks a significant milestone: no workers were rescued from degrading conditions in the carnaúba production chain in Piauí! This achievement, announced by the Public Labor Prosecutor’s Office in Piauí (MPT-PI), reflects the impact of rigorous inspections and the commitment of responsible companies to uphold workers’ dignity.
📉 According to prosecutor Edno Moura, there has been a 91% decrease in the number of rescued workers across the state – a powerful testament to the importance of ethical and sustainable practices in the sector.
At Brasil Ceras, we are dedicated to ensuring that the carnaúba supply chain is free from exploitative conditions. While we have no history of labor violations in our supply network, we have implemented robust measures to promote human rights and worker dignity, including:
- ✅ Carnaúba Leadership Development Project – empowering suppliers with responsible management and labor best practices;
- ✅ Workplace safety training, ensuring security and efficiency in the field;
- ✅ Donation of PPE and safety equipment, providing adequate working conditions for extractors;
- ✅ Technical support and internal inspections, driving compliance and continuous improvement;
- ✅ Supply chain traceability, ensuring transparency and accountability.
💡 In May 2024, we also launched the Women in Carnaúba Project, strengthening women’s roles in the social transformation of the sector.
This progress is a collective victory! We are proud to contribute to the carnaúba value chain, establishing it as a benchmark for sustainable development, aligned with workers’ dignity and economic growth in Piauí.
💚 Let these transformations inspire even more actions toward a just and prosperous future for all!
